For those of you who want to wifi tethering mobile hotspot functionality, you can either use Verizon’s $20/month Mobile Hotspot feature OR you can also root your Droid X then install the 3rd party app Android WiFi Tether.

Today I took my Droid X to my parents home where they have a Linksys router. Well, I did a test where I placed my Droid X close to my router and set it on its Mobile Hotspot mode.
There’s always a “dead spot” on the other side of my parents house where the Linksys router fails often.
Surprisingly, I was in that same “dead spot” and I picked up the Droid X Mobile Hotspot signals just fine. In fact, it was over 50% signal while the Linksys Router gets near 5-10% at best.
