It looks like Droid X will be dropping in prices very soon with CompUSA offering the phone for just $19.99.
There’s rumors that HTC Thunderbolt will be launching soon, which is like the Droid X but with support for Verizon’s new 4G LTE.
Certainly, prices on the Droid X will keep dropping but you will want to keep your eyes on the next Droid phone.

Hey folks, I’ve so busy running around trying to cover all the new Android smartphones. At first it was a lot of fun as things were going a bit slow (like when the Droid X came out), but nowadays there’s a new Android phone out every week!
Anyways, I had the chance to play with the new Droid Pro, which has virtually has all the powers of a Droid X & Droid 2 without the large screen but with Blackberry-like keyboard and corporate-oriented apps.

The wait if finally over folks for the official Froyo Android 2.2 update on the Droid X. They should be rolling out starting early as tomorrow. I know, it’s been a helluva long wait but hey, it’s here so you will have to go get some champagne to celebrate.
Droid Life reports that there’s some hidden Droid X page at DroidDoes.com pointing out that Froyo might finally be here afterall. We’ve had numerous rumors and updates and hopefully this is the last one.
According to BestBuy’s latest advertisement page, there’s a “4G” shown in the screenshot of the Droid X. Perhaps this is sign that Verizon’s 4G LTE is coming real soon? We don’t doubt that it’s coming but we didn’t think that soon.
Of course, I am sure it’s most likely an error by the graphic designer at BestBuy, who probably shopped it off an Evo 4G or Epic 4G. It’s a good mistake though, at least we can laugh about it.
Motorola is reporting on their support forums that there’s no official upgrade path available for leaked 2.2 Droid X ROM.
No worries though, if you’ve saved your original 2.1 ROM, you can always restore it, upgrade to the official Droid X 2.2, and should be back in no time.

Skyfire, another great browser for Android smartphones, is now available for Droid X and it’s official as of last Friday. (Just received word from Skyfire reps.)
To install, search for “skyfire” in Market.

Motorola has just updated their Android OS upgrade page (Yes, they “updated” the “update” page!) with the same news that official Froyo Android 2.2 will be coming to Droid X at the end of this summer.

Only days after leaked Froyo Android 2.2 ROM was introduced, Motorola’s security director issued a cease and desist letter to one of the sites hosting the ROM.
Of course, we don’t know if this is official yet, it seems like it might have been a mistake as installing Froyo Android 2.2 is perfectly legal, based on what the Library of Congress has said earlier this year.
