With recent events where Apple has been mercilessly attacking other smartphone companies (and mercilessly being denied from affecting Droid X’s superior antenna design, #BOOMSHAKALAKA), Verizon releases their latest Droid X ad aimed to target iPhone 4′s lack of wifi mobile hotspot functionality (or at least we think).
The Droid X mobile hotspot, by the way, is the best smartphone mobile hotspot I have used so far, works better than a real router.
And that’s not all, the dime doesn’t stop there, if you are a bit of a hacker like me, you can root your Droid X and install the free version of WiFi mobile hotspot. (This isn’t as powerful as Droid X’s regular mobile hotspot feature but still, that’s a lot more you can do with a smartphone than an iPhone 4.)
I remember the first time I was able to do this with a Palm Pre about 9 months back when that phone was launched. Ever since then one thing I have to have on a smartphone is the mobile hotspot feature, you simply can’t live without it once you realize how useful it is.
Even if iPhone 4 did have a mobile wifi hotspot feature, no one would use it because AT&T’s network is just too unreliable and loses bars when you hold it in a bar.
“Can you hear me now?”
