For those of you who have rooted your Droid X, perhaps installed the free WiFi tether but you need to return your Droid X to the store for an exchange, you might want to unroot your Droid X.
This process is pretty simple though, you can use the Droid X’s menus to reset the phone to factory defaults and leave no traces of root.
One of my readers sent me the following question:
“Hi there ur hacks on rooting and tether are great. But I need to know how to remove the tethering app from apps screen and phone. My girl is returning phone for new one and I need to remove it so that it don’t void the warranty. Could u please help me out.”
To which I replied:
“Try Settings->Applications? You should be able to remove it easily,
better yet, reset to factory under Settings->Privacy, leave no traces.”
