Today, we will go over some of the specs between the new Motorola Droid X and Apple iPhone 4.
Should you shell out for an iPhone 4 now? Or wait a month more for the official announcement of Droid X?
Let’s find out by looking deeper into the actual “specs” between the Droid X and iPhone 4.
Droid X versus iPhone 4 Size Comparison
Droid X comes with 4.4-inch screen at 854×480 pixels while iPhone 4 comes with 3.5-inch screen at 960×640 pixels. For most people, they will certainly prefer the larger 4.4-inch screen that the Droid X provides plus the larger margin of error for the multi-touch keyboard. I know because I have really bad eyes, smaller screens on smartphones make it unusable while larger screens relieve the stress on my eyes. Definitely, size is becoming more important in consumer’s choice for smartphones, less resolution.
Plus larger screens will eliminate your needs to pinch-and-zoom.
Droid X versus iPhone 4 Camera Comparison
Droid X packs a whopping 8-megapixel camera with 720P HD recording abilities while iPhone 4 comes with a 5-megapixel camera. Certainly, Droid X will be able to do a lot more than you can with an iPhone 4.
Droid X versus iPhone 4 GPS Navigation
Droid X comes with FREE Google Navigation that’s probably the best in GPS business today. On the other hand, iPhone 4 does not come with a comparable GPS Navigation software plus you will have to shell out additional dollars for a GPS app.
Droid X versus iPhone 4 Multi-touch Keyboard
The “largest” 4.4-inch screen boasted by Droid X is not only easy to type but comes with a new “swype” keyboard that lets you type in a new, innovative way, something you can’t do on the iPhone 4.
Droid X versus iPhone 4 CPU
The Droid X packs a ton of processing power with its ARMv7 1Ghz processor, a much faster processor than iPhone 4′s A4 chip for faster browsing and overall mobile computing.
Droid X versus iPhone 4 Apps
The Android Market has managed to take off big time this year, you are certainly going to find the same apps on the Droid X as you do on the iPhone 4. Plus, in my personal experience, there are more “free” apps on the Android Market than iPhone Market. Do you really want to pay more for every little app?
Droid X versus iPhone 4 Voice Calling/3G Data Network
Verizon, the carrier of Droid X, has an excellent coverage throughout the U.S. for voice calls and 3G data network while AT&T, the carrier of iPhone 4, has a serious issue with dropped calls and charging customers extra for “limited” data plans.
With everything added up, it’s probably going to cost your $20-30 less to get unlimited voice/data on Verizon versus AT&T, nevermind the non-existent dropped calls on Verizon.
