Droid X Mobile Hotspot Feature Works Better than a Real Router!
Today I took my Droid X to my parents home where they have a Linksys router. Well, I did a test where I placed my Droid X close to my router and set it on its Mobile Hotspot mode.
There’s always a “dead spot” on the other side of my parents house where the Linksys router fails often.
Surprisingly, I was in that same “dead spot” and I picked up the Droid X Mobile Hotspot signals just fine. In fact, it was over 50% signal while the Linksys Router gets near 5-10% at best.
That’s when I realized that the WiFi on the Droid X is really powerful, the most powerful I have seen for a smartphone.
I have tried the same tests with both my Palm Pre and Nexus One but none of them are as strong.
Perhaps the double antenna design of the Droid X is the reason?
I don’t know for sure but the Droid X Mobile Hotspot works really well, it’s definitely worth the extra $20/month to get the feature.
