I will have further updates on this topic, Droid 2 versus Droid X but let me give you an insight since I have gotten hands on with the Droid 2 since yesterday.
First of all, the Droid 2 doesn’t seem like its smaller than the Droid X because of its bulkiness. Droid X actually feels lighter in my hands and also it’s thinner, making it for easier fit in my jean pockets.
Of course, some people might prefer the width of Droid 2 versus the tallness of the Droid X but for me, Droid X just feels better in my pockets.
The QWERTY keyboard is definitely the number one reason why Droid 2 has a fatter form factor but that could be ideal for business users who must e-mail 20 people on daily basis during travel.
That said, Droid 2 still is a great phone, I am just saying for my personal preferences I prefer the Droid X but indeed Droid 2 is a smaller device as far as overall width goes.
One thing great about the Droid 2 I noticed is that it feels really “sturdy” in your hands and pocket, this thing is a “BEAST” and is certainly more solid and tougher than the Droid X. (Of course, you can always get a good case for your phone so…)
The Droid 2 comes with a 5 megapixel camera and I have no problem with that but it does not do 720P HD video recording, that was one of the huge disappointments from using Droid X to Droid 2. I believe the hardware on Droid 2 is plenty-capable, Motorola might be rolling out 720P HD video recording soon, I hope.
And Froyo? Yup, Droid 2 is like zippy as your Yorkie high on cocaine. Seriously, it’s really zippy and everything runs pretty darn smooth.
Flash Player 10.1 does the best out of all Android smartphones I’ve seen this year. I will have further analysis/comparison videos between the Droid 2 and Nexus One soon.
So, in all, Droid 2 comes off as a completely a different animal than Droid X. Most hardware silicone specs are the same but the main differences lie in its strengths.
Droid 2 is better for those of you who have super large hands and cannot even type on Droid X’s large virtual keyboard.
Droid 2 is better for those of you who don’t care about taking videos or have no use for them.
Of course, in the end, I like the Droid X, mostly because I’ve gotten so proficient at typing on the Droid X’s 4.3-inch multi-touch keyboard and I like my screens bigger.
But let me keep trying out the Droid 2, there’s a load of more features I need to keep reviewing.
And I’ve updated my Droid 2 Review over at my main blog, Zedomax.com, check it out!
