WHOOHOO! Froyo Android 2.2 is here for those of you who have a rooted Droid X! The steps are pretty simple and the devs got Froyo zipped into a single update.zip file so it’s really easy to install.
There’s also a custom recovery you can install to backup your current Droid X 2.1, so you can revert back to it anytime.
First, you will need a rooted Droid X. you need a Droid X.

The Droid X devs have been working hard and what we have here is the first screenshot of a Droid X Clockwork Recovery, which allows you to flash custom ROMs, backup ROMs, and a whole lot more.
This is good news for the Droid X community and users who have been waiting for this to happen. And yes, Android 3.0 isn’t too far away either. With a Droid X custom recovery, Droid X users should be able to get the best of the latest Android.

Tired of the same old Droid X theme? For those of you who have a rooted Droid X, you might want to hit up this cool NexTheme, which gives your Droid X a whole different look.
To install, download this file.
Unzip into a folder called nextheme in your SD Card.
Then do at shell:
su mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system cp /sdcard/nextheme/framework-res.apk /system/framework/ reboThis is a dirty, little secret that most Android users know and probably won’t last forever but if you want to download free Droid X apps, all you gotta go is google “appiwant.apk” on your Droid X, download it and install it.
