Skyfire Browser Now Available for Droid X!

skyfire

Skyfire, another great browser for Android smartphones, is now available for Droid X and it’s official as of last Friday.  (Just received word from Skyfire reps.)

To install, search for “skyfire” in Market.

I’ve been using Skyfire on my Archos 7 tablet and one of the cool features about the Skyfire browser is that it supports Flash.  So if you haven’t got Android 2.2 Froyo on your Droid X yet, you can view flash videos using Skyfire.

Also for people who have multiple logins fo

Droid X Froyo Android 2.2 Update Coming Soon?

Motorola has just updated their Android OS upgrade page (Yes, they “updated” the “update” page!) with the same news that official Froyo Android 2.2 will be coming to Droid X at the end of this summer.

Wait, summer is almost over, we’ve officially got only 7 more days of the-weirdest-summer-of-decade.  (By the way here in San Francisco, summer has been lost all summer with too many cold days until yesterday when skies cleared up, something is UP with this weird weather, I swear!)

Anyways, this simply means that Droid X Froyo official update is goi

Motorola Security Director Issues Cease and Desist Letter for Froyo!

motorola-froyo

Only days after leaked Froyo Android 2.2 ROM was introduced, Motorola’s security director issued a cease and desist letter to one of the sites hosting the ROM.

Of course, we don’t know if this is official yet, it seems like it might have been a mistake as installing Froyo Android 2.2 is perfectly legal, based on what the Library of Congress has said earlier this year.

How to Switch Between Multiple Phones and the Droid X on Verizon!

One of our readers asked me today if it’s possible to get a new Droid 2 or Droid Incredible and switch it back and forth from his Droid X.

Let me tell you that it IS possible even though Verizon doesn’t use SIM cards.

Verizon is based on CDMA, meaning it uses ESN numbers, which you can switch to another phone without signing up for a new 2 year contract online at VerizonWireless.com.

However, if you haven’t gotten your Droid X rebate YET, DON’T SWITCH as you will lose your rebate. Part of the rebate conditions are that your ESN number on the Dro

Droid X Clockwork Recovery!

clockmod-recovery

The Droid X devs have been working hard and what we have here is the first screenshot of a Droid X Clockwork Recovery, which allows you to flash custom ROMs, backup ROMs, and a whole lot more.

This is good news for the Droid X community and users who have been waiting for this to happen.   And yes, Android 3.0 isn’t too far away either.   With a Droid X custom recovery, Droid X users should be able to get the best of the latest Android.

Oh boy, I can’t wait to see what h

Droid 2 Vs Droid X

I will have further updates on this topic, Droid 2 versus Droid X but let me give you an insight since I have gotten hands on with the Droid 2 since yesterday.

First of all, the Droid 2 doesn’t seem like its smaller than the Droid X because of its bulkiness.   Droid X actually feels lighter in my hands and also it’s thinner, making it for easier fit in my jean pockets.

Of course, some people might prefer the width of Droid 2 versus the tallness of the Droid X but for me, Droid X just feels better in my pockets.

The QWERTY keyboard is definitely the number o

Droid 2 Hands-on Review!

droid-2-review-1

Yup, I got myself a new Droid 2, it’s exactly like Droid X with Froyo, without the HDMI and 4.3-inch screen, and with a QWERTY keyboard.   I think for business users who have trouble with touchscreen devices, Droid 2 could be a good choice.

Also, there’s many apps out there for developers (like me) who need a physical keyboard at times.

Anyways, I’ve written up my initial thoughts on the new Motorola Droid 2 at Zedomax.com.
