Droid X Froyo Coming Late Summer?

droid-x-later-summer

Droid X Froyo seems to be delayed until this late summer, perhaps in the next 3-4 weeks, unlike we reported earlier in the month.

Nothings for sure yet but just hold onto your pants as I am sure Froyo will be making your Droid X much faster (3-5 times) and enjoy all the goodies that new ice cream comes with.

For regular Droid 1 users, you are in luck as Froyo OTA update will hit in just 2 days.

Wait, is Froyo an ice cream?

Motorola Bootloader Unlock Petition!

free-android

For those of you who want to install custom ROMs on your rooted Motorola Droid X, right now you can’t because the bootloader is still locked.

Well, there’s a Motorola Bootloader Unlock Petition going on, perhaps you could sign it and let Motorola know your thoughts on the matter.

As for me, I think it can’t hurt Motorola’s sales to unlock the bootloader in any way, people just want to install custom ROMs, even myself.  What could go wrong with that?

New Droid X Ad – “No Bumper Required!”

droid-x-ad

Quietly, Motorola responds to Apple’s latest PR disaster with the new ad, “No Jacket Required”, which we wonder probably means “No Bumper Required”. Of course, if you want to see the actual antenna performance differences between the Motorola Droid X and iPhone 4, don’t forget to check out our full analysis.

At Motorola, we believe a customer shouldn’t have to dress up their phone for it to work properly. That’s why the DROID X comes wit

Droid X vs. iPhone 4 Antenna Reception Test! [BattleX]

droid-x-antenna-2

The other day we told you how Apple was spreading “false” rumors that all smartphones had same antenna reception problems from a “death grip”.

Well, you know what I hate, are big companies who lie straight in the face to unassuming consumers just to protect their brand.  I know everyone by now knows that Apple is clearly lying (and FTC should go after them) but let me prove the point that Apple iPhone 4 has an “antenna reception problem” where the pho

How to Get a Droid X with 1 Year Contract!

droid-x-1yr-contract

For those of you who don’t want to be locked in for 2 years since new smartphones are being introduced like every 6 months, it makes no sense to get 2 year contracts if you plan on changing/upgrading your phone often like me.

Luckily, Verizon actually offers a really great 1 year contract at just $269.99, just $70 more than the $199.99 price with 2 year contract.

If you ask me, I would always opt for the 1 year contract since that means I can get a new phone next year without being locked in or paying full price for a new one.

But I believe this deal only

Droid X Shipping Date Moved to August 4th!

droid-x-shipping-date

VerizonWireless.com has updated that their earliest shipment date is Auguest 4th 2010, which is about a week away.  But “some” local retail stores might still have some in stock if you look hard enough.

When I got the Droid Incredible couple weeks ago, same thing happened (actually, a longer wait) but I found a local Verizon dealer who had them in stock on Craigslist so that might be a good way to get one.

In the meanwhile, if you are willing to wait, you can head over to VerizonWireless.com or even

Library of Congress says Rooting Droid X isn’t illegal!

Library of Congress has put out word today that jailbreaking iPhones and rooting Android smartphones like Droid X isn’t illegal.

I concur, I already paid for my smartphone, I should have the right to do whatever I want with it.

Think about it, you buy a Chevy and you want to put a modified engine in it, do you have to get permission from Chevrolet the company?

No, you don’t.

Being able to root the Droid X is part of the fun and I really hope all smartphone manufacturers/providers know that in the end, it’s for them to benefit.

I know, I k

How to Unroot your Droid X?

For those of you who have rooted your Droid X, perhaps installed the free WiFi tether but you need to return your Droid X to the store for an exchange, you might want to unroot your Droid X.

This process is pretty simple though, you can use the Droid X’s menus to reset the phone to factory defaults and leave no traces of root.
